Canterbury Park Gardens, Eaglehawk

Our Venue: Canterbury Park Gardens

Canterbury Park Gardens is the jewel in the crown of the Eaglehawk Open Space Precinct.

First proposed in 1870, the garden was set out in 1873 on ‘upside down country’, a reference to the gold rush mining days. Much has changed at this site over the years and the garden now sits alongside Canterbury Park Oval, Lake Neangar, Lake Tom Thumb and a sports and events precinct.

Canterbury Park Gardens are known for the annual Dahlia and Arts festival, its collection of dahlias, palms and roses and the meticulously maintained ornamental gardens.

The broader Eaglehawk Open Space Precinct is known for its tradition of annual sporting events and community spirit. The area also includes an events lawn, the McKern Skate Park and Peter Krenz Leisure Centre.

Visit the garden, walk the trails around Lake Neangar and Lake Tom Thumb, see the Amphitheatre and island, check out the Canterbury Park Oval and Sports Precinct and the Mulga Bill themed Playspace.

The Rotary Club of Eaglehawk has been serving the local community and the broader Rotary community since 1966. Eaglehawk is 6 km from the Bendigo CBD and, prior to Council amalgamations, was the Borough of Eaglehawk. Eaglehawk has retained its unique cultural heritage and is still referred to as ‘The Borough’.
